Capcom has released a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, giving us another look at the dark fantasy version of Kyoto that Miyamoto Musashi will explore when the game launches next month.
Titled the “Severing Fates” trailer, the latest footage focuses on Yasui Konpiragu Shrine, one of several locations in Onimusha: Way of the Sword based on real-world landmarks found throughout Kyoto. Including Yasui Konpiragu Shrine, a place where people go to sever bad relationships and form better ones. However, Capcom has given the location a much darker twist.

In the game, the shrine has become the hunting ground of a Genma called Rasho-gan. The multi-armed monster preys on pilgrims who visit the shrine, twisting their wishes before taking parts of their bodies for himself. Eventually, Musashi comes face-to-face with the creature, leading to another one of the game’s intense boss battles.
The trailer also gives us another look at Musashi putting the Oni Gauntlet to work alongside his growing arsenal of sword techniques and combat abilities. If there’s one thing Capcom continues to make clear with each new showing, it’s that Onimusha: Way of the Sword isn’t going to be shy when it comes to putting Musashi through some brutal fights.
We’ve had multiple opportunities to play Onimusha: Way of the Sword thanks to Capcom, including several hands-on sessions and private events, with our most recent time with the game coming during Summer Game Fest 2026. Every time we’ve played it, we’ve walked away wanting more. So, to say we’re excited for Onimusha: Way of the Sword would be an understatement. With the release now less than a month away, we’re more than ready to see how the full game comes together.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on September 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
