The OneXFly Apex Aims to Redefine Handheld PC Gaming Power

If you’ve been following the handheld PC gaming market, you know it’s heating up fast. Between the ROG Xbox Ally X, Legion Go 2, and the newly revealed GPD WIN 5, which looks like an oversized PlayStation Vita with a massive battery, competition is fierce. Now, OneXPlayer has joined the fray with its newest entry, the OneXFly Apex, and it’s shaping up to be a powerhouse.

Announced earlier this week, the Apex trades AMD’s Z2 Extreme SOC for the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo APU, offering far more muscle than most of its rivals. It supports up to 120 W TDP, made possible by OneXPlayer’s new “Silent Liquid Cooling” vapor chamber system, and pairs that power with an 8-inch 120 Hz VRR display, up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, an 85 Wh removable battery. Premium touches like Harman-tuned speakers, adjustable triggers, and external SSD support round out the package, clearly aimed at gamers who want desktop-class performance on the go.

With all of that, it definitely does seem like the OneXFly Apex is going to have the same battery concerns as the GPD WIN 5, maybe even worse, not to mention the weight of the device. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but early expectations point to a premium $1,500–$2,000 range. So, if you thought the other handhelds were expensive, you haven’t seen nothing yet.

Still, if OneXPlayer can balance performance, battery life, and thermals, the Apex could easily redefine what high-end handheld gaming looks like.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the OneXFly Apex as more details emerge and when it eventually goes up for pre-order.
