Last year, the One Piece anime took a six-month break to ensure high-quality standards were met. On Tuesday, Toei Animation announced that another lengthy delay is on the horizon. Beginning in January 2026, the anime will go on a three-month break and will return in April.
While that news will be saddening to fans who have grown accustomed to weekly episodes over the year, Toei Animation also announced that One Piece will release fewer episodes each year going forward.
Beginning in 2026, the yearly production cycle for One Piece will allow for a maximum of 26 episodes per year, which will be broken into two parts. Fan speculation suggests that 13-episode parts will air every Spring and Fall, with three-month breaks every Winter and Summer, coinciding with the upcoming winter break.
A new visual was also revealed alongside the news.
