Nyaight of the Living Cat Receives New Trailer Ahead of July 6 Release

Nyaight of the Living Cat

Nyaight of the Living Cat has unleashed a new trailer and key art, and it is not kitten around. The all-new post-apocalyptic comedy series from animation studio OLM (Pokémon; The Apothecary Diaries), led by renowned executive director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer; Audition; 13 Assassins) will officially begin streaming on Crunchyroll starting on July 6, with new episodes streaming every Sunday in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau. Sony Pictures Entertainment will be distributing in Asia and Japan.

Legendary glam rock band THE YELLOW MONKEY has been confirmed to perform the opening theme song “CAT CITY” and the three piece rock band WANIMA will be performing the ending theme song “Matatabi”.

More actors have also been confirmed to join the cast, including Tomoko Miyadera (YATAGARASU: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master), Kazuyuki Okitsu (Fire Force), Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End), Satoshi Tsuruoka (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation), Hiroshi Naka (Delicious in Dungeon), Toshiyuki Morikawa (2019’s Fruits Basket), Tessho Genda (Kaiju No. 8), and Shigeru Chiba (One Piece).

Additionally, Nyaight of the Living Cat has just been announced as an official selection of this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival, held in Montreal, Canada from July 16 through August 3. Revealed in the festival’s second wave lineup announcement, Episodes 3 and 4 of Nyaight of the Living Cat will make their world premiere before streaming on Crunchyroll and broadcasting in Japan. Anime fans can also look forward to a special early screening of Episode 1 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 3 on the Crunchyroll Stage in the JW Marriott.

JAPANESE VOICE CAST / CHARACTERS

  • Masaaki Mizunaka as Kunagi, a cat cafe employee with amnesia whose identity is shrouded in mystery. He loves cats and has superhuman physical abilities.
  • Reina Ueda as Kaoru, a high school student attending Sabion High School. She loves cats. She works as a shop assistant at the cat cafe “Megokoro Nekome” run by her brother.
  • Reiji Kawashima as Arata, a former track and field athlete, and ninja-obsessed university student. He loves cats. He was saved by Kunagi just before turning into a cat, and he came to adore him and call him “Aniki” (“older brother”)
  • Yu Serizawa as Tsutsumi, she attends the same Sabioto High School as Kaoru. She loves cats, but is allergic to them, although this sometimes opens up unexpected paths for her.
  • Subaru Kimura as Len Ward, the eldest son of the Ward family. He loves cats. This legendary family is said to have defended their base from cats for three days and three nights without sleep. He is a physically strong man with a bold personality.
  • Yoshiki Nakajima as Masaki Ward, the second son of the Ward family. He loves cats. He is part of a legendary family that once defended their base from cats without sleep for three days and three nights. He is smart and popular.
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as Tanishi, a regular at the cat cafe where Kunagi works. He loves cats. He works with Kunagi and Kaoru in a world ruled by cats, but…
  • Ryota Takeuchi as Gaku, the owner of the cat cafe “Megokoro Nekome” and Kaoru’s older brother. He loves cats. He hires Kunagi, who has lost his memory.
