Nvidia’s DLSS support heads to Red Dead Redemption 2 next week

By Keith MitchellJuly 8, 2021
Red Dead Redemption 2

Ever since Nvidia rolled out its DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology, more and more games have been adding support for it. The latest titles announced to receive DLSS support is Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. This update will start rolling out as of July 13th, 2021.

As part of the July 13th update, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online on PC will offer NVIDIA DLSS support to all Windows users with eligible NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards. The newly supported feature boosts frame rates and generates beautiful sharp images.

This is great news for both Nvidia and players of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. With DLSS, the game will get access to several settings of visual performance settings, all without that nasty overhead of the native resolutions. Which is something that Red Dead Redemption 2 suffered with, especially when trying to run the game at 1440p or 4K on several GPUs.

While DLSS only works for Nvidia-based RTX (2000 & 3000) GPUs, AMD’s implementation will allow AMD GPUs to perform similarly. With this happening, I wonder if this means that AMD’s similar technology, FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) will also be integrated into both games. I suppose we can only wait and see.

DLSS Support for Red Dead Redemption 2 should pull in both new and previous players that issues running the game in the past. If you had issues running Red Dead Redemption 2 or Red Dead Online in the past, will this make you return to the game? Sound off in the comments or hit me up on Twitter @Shadowhaxor.
