Earlier this year, I started using Nvidia GeForce Now on a variety of devices, and I was planning to share more on that soon. Following today’s news that Nvidia GeForce Now is about to receive a massive update, I’m more excited about the future of the service than I ever have been. So what is changing about Nvidia GeForce Now?
Here’s a list of everything you need to know:
- The NVIDIA Blackwell architecture is coming to GeForce NOW in the platform’s biggest update yet, delivering NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080-class GPUs to the cloud, including NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation for streaming up to 5K resolution at 120 frames per second, new AI-powered features, and more.
- The GeForce NOW game library will double to over 4,500 titles with the launch of Install-to-Play, allowing members to access more of their PC collections, along with upcoming AAA games launching in the cloud.
- A new Cinematic Quality Streaming mode significantly improves graphical fidelity with Blackwell-powered technology for stunning color accuracy, supersmooth streaming, and crystal-clear graphics.
- The extensive list of supported devices continues to grow — now including racing wheels, up to 90 fps on the Steam Deck, 4K at 120Hz on supported LG TVs, and more.
- NVIDIA, Discord, and Epic are partnering to enable an integrated experience in Discord via a limited-time trial of a GeForce NOW Performance experience, transforming game discovery and social gaming.
That’s right, if you’re on the ultimate tier of GFN, you’ll be able to access the services of new 5080-powered servers soon. This means you’ll get access to the latest Nvidia technologies, including DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation, Transformer Model DLSS, and more.
These new servers, powered by 5080s, also bring improved visuals with a Cinematic Quality streaming mode. Allowing you to have the best visual quality at high frame rates, all while still having a smooth streaming experience.
Perhaps the best part of these updated servers is that more devices will be capable of higher frame rates than before. For example, Steam Deck will now allow you to use Nvidia GeForce Now at 90fps. Maybe you use an LG TV and don’t worry, they’ve also been upgraded, with LG TVs ready to support 4K resolution at 120Hz on these new Nvidia GeForce Now servers.
Nvidia GeForce Now Game Library Expanding
Alongside this new server upgrade, GFN will see a new feature added called “Install-to-Play”. Of course, Nvidia GeForce Now has tons of pre-installed games ready to play, but you might not always be able to find what you’re looking for.
That’s about to be less of a problem as Nvidia GeForce Now members will gain access to double the game catalog, streaming more than 2,200 additional Steam titles that publishers have enabled for cloud streaming on GeForce NOW, with more to come. Thanks to Install-to-Play, this means GeForce NOW’s library will expand to over 4,500 Ready-to-Play and Install-to-Play titles.
Why Should You Be Excited
In the end, all this means is that if you have the Ultimate tier of Nvidia GeForce Now, your experience is about to become even better. With access to more games, better framerates, and clarity than ever.
If you aren’t familiar with GeForce Now, it’s a cloud streaming service powered by Nvidia’s graphics cards, allowing users to access a high-end PC experience for gaming. You might be sceptical of cloud streaming for gaming, just as I was, but in the right environment, Nvidia GeForce Now can provide a better-than-console experience (especially for single-player gaming).
I have used the service across several devices; at one point, it was even my main way of gaming when my PC was out of action earlier this year. Let me tell you, being able to access my PC library of games on the downstairs TV, or my Logitech G Cloud, without needing to purchase a second PC or even have my PC turned on, is fantastic. Hell, I technically don’t need a PC at all; you can use Nvidia GeForce Now without ever owning a PC.
So, if you’ve dreamed of being a PC gamer but can’t afford the huge initial investment required to get a high-end rig, then Nvidia GeForce Now might be the perfect solution for you. This update only makes the service even better, so there is no better time to give it a try.
