The world we live in isn’t exactly the best place right now, and even the gaming sector has to worry about certain “political blowback,” such as tariffs and other measures that certain governments are trying to enforce on developers and publishers. Nintendo has been caught in the crossfire already via potentially raised console prices, and Xbox straight-up raised them $100 at times. In the matter of diversity, though, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser has some great news for gamers.
Specifically, in an interview with a Brazilian newspaper that Nintendo Everything translated, he noted that the company will always believe in diversity and support it:
“We always want to attract the best talent we can and retain that talent. We also believe it’s important for that talent to be diverse in terms of their backgrounds, their experiences, and their understandings because our players are diverse. So we strive to have diversity that reflects our players in our organization. This is something that’s been in place for years, before people really started using the acronym DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion]. And that will continue to be in place. It’s important to us.”
It’s always nice to hear such things being said, and hearing it from Doug Bowser, one of the leaders of the company, really helps that sentiment stick.
