Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Partially Revealed In Japan Via Amazon

A Piece of the Sales Puzzle...
By Todd BlackMay 26, 2025
Nintendo Switch 2

As boring as it may sound, one of the most important things about the Nintendo Switch 2 has nothing to do with the console itself or even its games. Instead, it has to do with the sales figures that the system pulls off in its opening month or so. As we’ve talked about on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast and beyond, the Switch 2 has a LOT of hype behind it, and Nintendo is absolutely pushing for it to be one of its biggest consoles ever, if not the biggest seller ever! Japan as a nation is already on board with this, and more proof has been provided of this via Amazon Japan.

As noted by Nintendo Soup, Amazon Japan is reporting that it had sold over 60,000 units of the Nintendo Switch 2 via the four versions it was offering online.

Now, if this feels “a bit low,” you need to remember a few things. First, just that number already puts it above current console sales figures in Japan, including the OG Nintendo Switch. Second, Amazon Japan is just ONE outlet getting the Switch. The Nintendo Store is the priority in many respects, especially since they got 2.2 million pre-order requests after they went live! Furthermore, retailers and other stores are getting limited supplies to help “share the load,” if you will.

So either way, this is a strong start to the Switch 2 in Japan, and once the full numbers are in, we’ll be able to tell just how well it’s truly done.
