Can you believe it’s been a week since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched? Personally? I’m finding it hard to believe myself. It felt like it took SO LONG to get here, and now, it’s out, and we’re enjoying it, and thanks to an earlier piece of news this week, we know that it had a record-breaking launch that put all other consoles to shame. Needless to say, Nintendo is probably celebrating pretty heavily right now, and we can prove that via the words of one Doug Bowser.
If you recall, he’s the head of Nintendo of America, and when he was asked about the record-breaking success of the system, he thanked the Nintendo fanbase for coming out and getting it:
Doug Bowser response to Switch 2 selling 3.5 million units in 4 days:
“Fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go.
We are thankful for their response and happy to see the fun they are already having… pic.twitter.com/aNEha3Dfr8

Many see the Nintendo Switch 2 as a success on multiple fronts, including me. Yes, this is a success on the “units front,” but it’s also important to note that Nintendo hasn’t had back-to-back console successes in some time. The Big N intentionally went hard on the Switch 2’s development and ensured they learned the proper lessons from the Switch era to ensure they didn’t repeat past mistakes, and they seem to have accomplished that.
Now, the primary goal is to keep releasing great software. While we have had some big announcements on that front recently, many hope a Nintendo Direct is imminent so that we can learn more about what the Switch 2 will have in the future.
