The Nintendo Switch 2 is the hottest gaming console on the market right now. That’s a fact, and easily backed up with sales data since its release a little over two months ago. It sold the most consoles ever in a month, and its launch title, Mario Kart World, has about a 97% attachment rate due to the bundle it came in. It also has a Game of the Year contender with Donkey Kong Bananza, and has a stacked lineup of titles coming out to finish this year once October rolls around. Yet, the future of the system still remains a bit murky, even with a Nintendo Direct helping shine a light on things.
However, illumination may come in the form of DICE Europe, where a Nintendo executive, specifically the Managing Executive Officer and the GM of Publishing and Developer relations, will be a keynote speaker at the event today and deliver a talk on the “Direction” of the new system:

Obviously, Mr. Shibata won’t be spilling “company secrets” or telling us about certain unannounced titles. More than likely, he’ll focus on the “business aspect” of things and discuss how The Big N will focus on continuing the success of the Nintendo Switch 2 by providing a lineup of titles that gamers will want, no matter what kind of games they like to play the most.
For example, the games revealed recently for the beginning part of 2026 focus primarily on the Mario 40th anniversary celebration, which gets a jump start in October when Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 get their remasters on the Switch 2. We’re also getting a new tennis title and a Yoshi game, until it caps off with the Super Mario Galaxy Movie dropping in April.
All of which will help the Switch 2 sell immensely over time.
