Newtype magazine announced the results of their 15th annual anime awards Sunday night. The results are driven by fan voting and encompass all anime that were released between July 2024 and July 2025. This award ceremony is effectively the Japanese version of the Crunchyroll Awards.
The winner for Best TV Anime was Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! Other finalists included Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, Solo Leveling Season 2, and Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray. The winner for Best Anime Film was Bocchi the Rock! Movie. Other finalists included Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved and Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK.
This is the first time that a romance anime has won their Best TV Anime award since Kaguya-sama: Love Is War? won in 2020.
Other award winners include Kazuhiko Nukumizu for Best Male Character, Hitori Gotō for Best Female Character, Hikaru Tōno for Best Voice Actor, and Kazuya Tsurumaki for Best Director.
A-1 Pictures won Best Studio, having produced both Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! and Solo Leveling Season 2 during the time frame.
