Resident Evil Requiem Ray Tracing Trailer Gives Sneak Peak of City Streets

You can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a horror game protagonist, no time to talk

Resident Evil Requiem Grace City Trailer

Grace Ashcroft has no time to explore a city, she has places to be—scary places. In the latest short trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, the heroine struts down grimy and bustling city streets a la Saturday Night Fever—complete with elevated subway line. The trailer comes courtesy of a collaboration between Capcom and NVIDIA. It showcases 4K path tracing in the upcoming survival horror game.

The trailer’s main goal is to show off NVIDIA DLSS 4 with multi frame generation. And it does that, complete with “before and after” comparisons. However, there seems to be more bustle about the bustling city revealed in this trailer.

Some reports seem to suggest that Resident Evil Requiem will be an open-world game (or will at least have some open-world areas). Theoretically, it’s possible. But it’s worth mentioning that these are just rumors. In all likelihood, the cityscape scene in the trailer will be more akin to the wide-yet-linear city sections from Resident Evil 3 Remake.

If—and it’s a big if—somehow Capcom was keeping an open-world area under wraps, it wouldn’t be the game’s first surprise reveal. Fans speculated for a while that series name stay Leon S. Kennedy would join Grace in Requiem. And it turns out, they weren’t wrong. Capcom remained coy about the returning character until he appeared in a trailer during The Game Awards last month.

Either way, the cityscape in the trailer looks great, both in its lighting and its many details. Since Raccoon City has been destroyed by this point in the series, this city is the new location of Wrenwood. The new Resident Evil city is confirmed to be in the Midwest, perhaps taking inspiration from Chicago with an elevated subway and Cubs-like baseball pennants.

Notably, Resident Evil Requiem will also return to Racoon City—albeit a bombed out one. The trailer also shows some of the sections we’ve seen before of Grace contending with a ghoulish figure, something we experienced firsthand in our preview.

Resident Evil Requiem arrives for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27th, 2026.

A big fan of Final Fantasy VII, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid, Andrew loves great stories and any and all things horror flavored. He also works in the world of interactive theater, its own kind of gaming. Andrew gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
