Retroware and Zenovia Interactive wants to remind you that Neon Inferno is officially landing on PC and consoles in just one week. This stylish cyberpunk run and gun title arrives this November 20, 2025, and a playable demo is available right now on Xbox and Steam, giving players a chance to try the game before launch.
From the creator of Steel Assault, Neon Inferno blends explosive side scrolling action with intense gallery style shooting. The console demo highlights fast firefights, quick movement, and the ability to deflect incoming shots in bullet time. Players will also face early boss encounters that push their skills in a way that feels both punishing and rewarding.
In Neon Inferno, players take control of Angelo or Mariana, who happen to look like Jin Kazama and Nina Williams from the Tekken series. as they fight their way across a crime torn version of New York City. A small family is attempting to rise to power, but they are up against corrupt police forces, rival criminal groups, and advanced machines built to kill.
Between missions, players can unlock upgrades and tweak their loadout, letting them customize their approach to each scenario. The game supports solo play or two player local co-op; there’s no online place but at least on the PC version Steam Remote Play is supported. The game also offers several difficulty options along with an Arcade Mode. With fast action, tight controls, and plenty of replay value, Neon Inferno is shaping up to be one of this year’s standout indie shooters of the year.
We had the chance to play Neon Inferno several months ago when the first demo dropped, and we also went hands on again during PAX West 2025. Even with a few concerns during those early builds, the game still managed to stir up that classic fast paced run and gun feeling that fans of Contra will recognize immediately. It also blended in a bit of Wild Guns style aiming and stage presentation, all wrapped in modern gameplay ideas and impressive visuals that showed the project had serious potential. Once you get your hands on this, you will feel like you have been transported back into the SNES era. I know I sure did.
Neon Inferno arrives on consoles on November 20, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
