Spike Lee Directs NBA 2K26’s Gritty New MyCAREER Journey

By James ClarksonAugust 20, 2025
NBA 2K26 OUT OF BOUNDS

NBA 2K26 & Visual Concept Production is finally back with a MyCareer story, entitled OUT OF BOUNDS. Narrated by Legendary Director Spike Lee, this story seems to center around you player MP and his struggles to get noticed by scouts as he looks to improve his draft stock.

NBA2K MyCareer is the staple of the franchise. In past years, they have taken a back seat on the “story” aspect of the career, and it’s just been more focused on Park and Online play. But in yesteryears of 2K’s games, the story was a heavily included thing. Even Spike Lee, the narrator of NBA2K26, had his own Story in NBA2K16.

Let’s take a look at the trailer:

In NBA 2K26, the story centres around MP and his fight to make it to the NBA. After a scout doesn’t show at one of the biggest High school games he will have, MP decides to further his career; he needs to go to LA. After playing some fierce competition, you’re faced with the option of going to the Euro League, following in the footsteps of players like LaMelo Ball or Luka Doncic. Whether this will be a good opportunity for MP or not is up to you.

After watching this, I hope that we once again see the City being used for quest as it is something my brother and I loved doing, but after watching this trailer a couple times, I do have a fear that the story will just stop after making it to the NBA, as has been the case in recent NBA2K MyCareers. But I can only hope this story is as captivating as some of the great stories 2K & Visual Concept has shown in their history.

NBA 2K26 comes out on September 5, 2025, with early access starting August 29, 2025, for certain editions. It will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
