When you’re anticipating something arriving, it’s always hard waiting for the actual announcement, especially if you’ve been “burned before” by certain “false hopes.”
For those of us waiting for the next true Nintendo Direct to get announced, we know this pain very well. The first Switch 2 Direct was more about the console than the games.
After that, we’ve gotten three game-specific Directs, a Partner Showcase, and an indie world! When will the “shift” finally happen? That’s where VGC and SwitchForce come into the mix. Both of these sources are stating that a “mid-September” Direct is planned, with SwitchForce even giving a specific release date:
Nintendo tried to phone in an emergency about the missing Switch 2 games, but they accidentally dialed 912🤷

Is this proof of something being close to happening? Not at all. However, with so many people calling this out, it might be something to keep an eye on. However, as we noted before, just because a Nintendo Direct is “happening” in September doesn’t mean it’ll be what fans want.
As some have noted, September 13th is the 40th anniversary of Mario’s franchise, so it could easily be a presentation celebrating Mario and teasing what’s coming next and nothing more.
Many WANT a true Nintendo Switch 2 Direct because there are some release dates we still don’t know about, not to mention, we have no clear picture of what the Switch 2 lineup will be in 2026.
Hopefully, these rumors pan out in a way that is meaningful. Otherwise, we’ll put them on blast in the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast!
