Most Exciting Game Releases For August 2023

By Jordan AndowJuly 30, 2023
August 2023 games

2023 has been a year full of amazing games, and August looks like another month of exciting game releases. Here’s a list of the releases I’m most excited about in August, in release date order:

Atlas Fallen

Atlas Fallen is a Third Person Action RPG from Deck13, the team behind The Surge and its sequel, The Surge 2. Set in a fantasy world and giving players the power of sand manipulation, the combat here looks very interesting, not to mention the game can be played in full two-player co-op.

Atlas Fallen releases for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on August 10th, 2023.

EA Sports Madden 24

Well, it’s that time of year again. The latest version of Madden is upon us. I don’t play Madden every year, I’m more of a casual fan of the sport. I am British, after all! This year, however, Madden grabbed my attention again. Changes to gameplay look to give players more control and more realistically represent the sport. Time will tell how different this year’s game really is, but it certainly looks more authentic than ever, which is exactly what I want from my sports games.

EA Sports Madden 24 releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/5, and PC on August 15th (Deluxe Edition) and August 18th (Standard Edition).

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is an asymmetrical multiplayer game based on the 1974 film. I had a hands-off preview of this one which you can read here to get a clearer idea. The quick pitch is to think of something similar to Dead by Daylight and Friday 13th, while having that authenticity required when handling such a well know IP. It looks like a lot of fun with friends.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S (Day One on Game Pass), PS4/5, and PC on August 18th, 2023.

Immortals of Aveum

Immortals of Aveum is a First Person Shooter with magic and the first game from Ascendant Studios, a studio founded by Bret Robbins, former creative director at Sledgehammer Games and EA. Robbins is perhaps most well known for Call of Duty WWII, which Immortals of Aveum clearly takes some inspiration from. Hell, it looks very much like Call of Duty with magic instead of bullets.

Immortals of Aveum releases on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on August 22nd, 2023.

5. Armoured Core VI Fires of Rubicon

It’s been years since we’ve had an Armoured Core game, and given Fromsoft’s recent successes like Elden Ring and Sekiro, I personally can’t wait. Who doesn’t love a mech-fighting game? The biggest question in my mind is can Armoured Core VI continue Fromsoft’s run of winning Game of the Year? Just like Elden Ring and Sekiro did before. Time will tell, but for now, check out this gameplay preview below.

Armoured Core VI Fires of Rubicon releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/5, and PC on August 25th, 2023.

So there you have it, my list of the most exciting releases in August. What games are you looking forward to playing this month? Let us know in the comments and on our social media.

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself. Now, just a few short years later, not only is Jordan a valued member of our staff here at The Outerhaven, but he also co-owns and helps to run Analog Stick Gaming.
