During the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Digital Eclipse and Atari officially confirmed that Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will launch digitally on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Pre-orders for the digital release open September 15 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Pre-order details for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch will be announced in the coming weeks.

Developed by Digital Eclipse, published by Atari, and fully licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection compiles the franchise’s early history in one massive package. Fans can relive the iconic 90s and early 2000s era across arcade, console, and handheld releases, including the following:

  • Mortal Kombat – 1992 (Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear)
  • Mortal Kombat II – 1993 (Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X)
  • Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995 (Arcade, SNES, Genesis)
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995 (Arcade, WaveNet Arcade, SNES)
  • Mortal Kombat Trilogy – 1996 (PlayStation)
  • Mortal Kombat 4 – 1997 (Arcade)
  • Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero – 1997 (PlayStation)
  • Mortal Kombat Special Forces – 2000 (PlayStation)
  • Mortal Kombat Advance – 2001 (Game Boy Advance)
  • Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance – 2002 (Game Boy Advance)
  • Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition – 2003 (Game Boy Advance)

This Kollection just won’t just be a nostalgia trip, as several quality-of-life improvements have been added, which include:

  • Online play for arcade and console titles
  • Rewind feature for more forgiving retries
  • On-screen move lists for quick reference
  • Trainer mode to perfect combos
  • Fatality Trainer to practice the franchise’s signature finishers

In addition to the games, fans will also gain access to an interactive documentary chronicling the series’ origins and rise to prominence. The feature includes rare concept art, archival footage, and both vintage and new interviews with the original creators. It provides historical insight while celebrating the legacy of the franchise.

During Evo 2025, Atari and Digital Eclipse confirmed that Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will also receive physical editions, giving collectors a chance to own the package in disc and cartridge form. These physical versions will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with standard and special edition variants planned. While pricing details may vary by retailer, special editions are expected to include collectible extras celebrating the franchise’s history.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection represents one of the most comprehensive re-releases in fighting game history, uniting arcade-perfect classics, console favorites, and handheld curiosities. With modern enhancements, an in-depth documentary, and physical editions on the way, this collection is shaping up to be a must-own for longtime fans and newcomers alike when it launches on October 30, 2025.
