Mario Kart World Update Fixes Key Free Roam Mode Complaint

See? They do listen to you!
By Todd BlackSeptember 24, 2025
Mario Kart World

The Nintendo Switch 2 launch was a huge success, with it selling record amounts in just its first month, while also selling consistently ever since. Its launch title was Mario Kart World, which I loved, and gave a positive score in my review! However, many other gamers and I had some fair complaints about the game, including in the Free Roam mode. While it was cool to wander around the courses/world and see all the nooks and crannies of the crazily detailed levels, there were times that it felt “empty,” plus, the game didn’t have a good map to guide you to the “P” challenges.

Thankfully, things have now changed. In the latest update for Mario Kart World, Nintendo adjusted things so that the map would show off all the “P” challenges, and more:

“The “Free Roam” map now displays the locations of P Switches you’ve run over and Peach Medallions you’ve obtained. You can now select a P Switch from the map and move to a location near the P Switch.”

That’s a big win for gamers, especially those who want to enjoy all the challenges in Free Roam mode but aren’t sure where to go next!

To be clear, that’s not the only thing the update has adjusted. Multiple features in Free Roam mode have been adjusted or fixed, such as meeting UFOs!!!! Plus, there were bugs in the game that were also fixed. So, you should check out the full patch notes to see what’s been adjusted before you dive back in and race.
