Mario Kart World Has Sold Over 5.63 Million Units

Bundled or separate, people wanted to race!

Best Characters and Vehicles in Mario Kart World

When Mario Kart World was announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, not a lot of people were surprised. After all, it was teased during the first video about the new console. However, when Nintendo showed off what it could do, and how it would use the Switch 2’s higher graphical ability and processing power to really expand upon what racing would feel like on MUCH larger tracks, people paid attention. However, the game did have controversy via its $80 price tag. Many even said that the game “wouldn’t sell well” due to that. They were wrong.

Nintendo dropped their financial briefing data for the first fiscal quarter, which ended June 30th, and in it (and on Page 26), they revealed that Mario Kart World sold 5.63 million units. Now, again, that was JUST for that quarter, which meant only 25 days worth of sales, as the game and Switch 2 released on June 5th.

So it sold millions in no time flat, and given that it’s basically “the game” to get (outside of Donkey Kong Bananza!), you can understand the high attach rate. During that same 25-day period, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold 5.82 million units. So, by those numbers, fewer than 200K in the entire world didn’t get the game with the Switch 2 in that first month.

If not obvious, the game did incredibly well, and we should all be thrilled that it did so. For our thoughts on the game, read our review!
