For one reason or another, Mario Kart World (read my review!) has been one of the more “divisive” titles that Nintendo has put out recently. Some feel it “overpromised” certain things, and many were surprised that key elements of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe weren’t included in the new title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo has heard these complaints and criticisms and has slowly been working on fixing them. In fact, The Big N just dropped a new update for the racing game, and many issues were indeed addressed.
For example, one huge thing that the game added is allowing players to change how items are used in multiple modes:
“Added “Custom Items” to the item rules. This is a feature that lets you set which items appear. This is supported in “VS Race”, “Balloon Battle”, “Coin Runners”, and “Room” in “Online Play” or “Wireless Play”.”
Many agree that this is a good feature, as it will help players unlock certain characters a lot more easily. Mario Kart World has also been praised for its soundtrack, and now, when you pause the game, you’ll see the track that’s being played, as well as which game it came from.
Finally, alongside a lot of bug fixes and the like, Nintendo also revealed that they’ve changed up how certain layouts of courses, including how tracks flow into one another. You should check the full patch notes to see how it all breaks down, but I’ve already seen people jump back into the game after the update and praise what they’ve seen.
And hey, if you’re looking for a new game to play after racing around a bit, there’s a certain title about to drop on Thursday…
