Manga Muscles : An Artist’s Guide to Drawing Powerful Male Bodies to Release September 2

By Josh PiedraJuly 16, 2025

Manga Muscles is an Artists Guide to Drawing Powerful Male Bodies (With Over 500 Color and B&W Ilustrations). The book is slated to release on September 2 and will retail for $17.99. It will be available in paperback format at 114 pages in length.

Manga Muscles

Manga Muscles teaches you how to draw fit, muscular bodies in every sort—from athletic to bodybuilder to fantasy superhero—in hundreds of different situations and from all possible angles. Plus, you’ll learn to adjust the physical attributes of each character so they don’t all look the same, and how to drape clothes on their bodies in a realistic way. Every body type you’ll want to draw is described in great detail here:

• Super-Fit Lean: “Spiderman” physiques for strong and agile characters
• Athletic Muscular: Beefy “Special Forces” physiques straight out of central casting
• Bodybuilder Ripped: Competitive heavyweight “Mr. Universe” physiques
• Fantasy Superhero: “The Hulk” titan physiques that defy belief

The authors are experienced professional illustrators who provide a thorough anatomical study for each type of physique and examine the way the skeleton, muscles and posture combine to express every body type. They provide over 500 detailed example illustrations and dozens of important tips on how to make your characters distinctive and believable—which muscle groups to emphasize for maximum impact and importance of various nuances to suggest hardness or softness, intimidation or sex appeal. This is the book every manga artist needs to have in their library!
