Live-Action Attack on Titan Movie Unveils 13 Cast Members

A live-action version of Hajime Isayama’s popular manga/anime Attack on Titan has been in the works for quite a while.  Last year, the Subaru motor company used Attack on Titan in one of their Subaru Forester commercials to help stir up commotion over the live-action film’s production.  Now, two Japanese film news websites (Eigo.com and Sanspo) have unveiled thirteen of the film’s characters and the actors that will be portraying them.  The websites have also unveiled the actors in full costume as well!

Here are the known main characters thus far:

Eren Jaeger: Haruma Mirua
Mikasa Ackerman: Kiko Mizuhara
Armin Arlert: Kanata Hongo
Professor Hanji: Satomi Ishihara
Sasha Blouse: Nanami Sakuraba
Jean Kirstein: Takahiro Miura

In addition to the above characters, several film adaptation-only characters have been unveiled as well:

Shikishima: Hiroki Hasegawa
Hiana: Ayame Misaki
Souda: Pierre Taki
Kubal: Jun Kunimura
Fukushi: Shu Watanabe
Sannagi: Saturo Matsuo
Lil: Rina Takeda

According to Sanspo, the new Shikishima character will play a key role in the movie’s plot as they describe him as “humanity’s strongest man.”   Yoshihiro Sato, the film’s director, has held many conversations with Hajime Isayama about the appearance of the characters.  Sato and Isayama agreed that the characters do not have to resemble the manga/anime characters as they felt that getting their personalities (referred to as the character’s spirit) down has a much bigger emphasis over their appearances even though a lot of the cast members did end up resembling the characters regardless of this belief.

Shinji Higuchi, the film’s director, confirmed that there will be two films created.  Hajime Isayama will be supervising the production of both films to ensure that the world of Attack on Titan is represented accurately in the films.  Yusuke Watanabe, who is known for Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods and the live-action movies Gantz, Gantz II: Perfect Answer, and 20th Century Boys, Gatchaman, will be writing the film’s script.

Both films are slated to open next summer!  Below are the images of the cast
