We’ve been saying for a while that we need a new Nintendo Direct to unveil key information about the Nintendo Switch 2 and what’s coming up next for it. But, we’ve also said that The Big N “does things its own way,” and they’ve proved it once again. You see, they DID announce a new Direct, but it’s another game-exclusive Direct, and this time, it’s for Kirby Air Riders. That’s right, the upcoming racing game featuring Kirby will be getting a 45-minute presentation tomorrow, and it’ll be helmed by the one and only Masahiro Sakurai!
Join us on Aug 19 at 6 a.m. PT for a #KirbyAirRiders Direct with director Mr. Sakurai. The livestreamed presentation will last roughly 45 minutes and provide an in-depth look at the upcoming #NintendoSwitch2 game. #NintendoDirect

Oh yeah, this will be good, and Sakurai will do his best to get us invested in his newest title. One of the ironies here isn’t just the length, but it’s clear that Nintendo is hoping this Direct does for Kirby Air Riders what the last game-exclusive one did for Donkey Kong Bananza (read my review!) After that one dropped, gamers couldn’t wait to get their hands on the title, and likely, Nintendo wants the same effect here.
What does this mean for the next “true Nintendo Direct?” It’s hard to say, but judging by how much time Sakurai is being given to break down this title, it’s very likely we’ll get a release date given, so let’s just see how it goes.
