John Wick Is Getting An Anime

By Todd BlackNovember 9, 2023
John Wick 3 Parabellum Review, Keanu Reeves, Shadow The Hedgehog, John Wick 5

If you’ve been around The Outerhaven long enough, you’ll know that I LOVE the John Wick franchise. It came out of nowhere and started slow and innocuous, but then became one of the best things in movies with original stories and gripping action. Keanu Reeves went above and beyond to tell the story of the “Baba Yaga” and his quest for revenge and peace. I even reviewed Parabellum and Chapter 4 because I was so enthralled by what I witnessed in theaters. But with Mr. Wick’s “end,” what happens now?

Simple, he’s getting an anime! The director of the series, Chad Stahleski, confirmed via The Discourse Podcast that there will be a John Wick anime coming, and he has hopes it’ll become something big:

“We’re really looking forward to that. We’re really excited about it because we’re doing… a Japanese anime because I love Japanese anime so much. So to create all the cool stories that anime can achieve better than we can, and the TV show to expand our world. We’ll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we’ll still have all the fun. I think for TV especially, world-building and action – those two have stayed pretty separate. But if you to try and combine them and give fans [both]? Look, I love the slow-burn too, but after six episodes, I would like something to happen in my TV shows, you know? So to try and bring that to TV what we do with features would be really exciting.”

So yeah, this is happening, and all I can say is…welcome back, Mr. Wick.
