Without a doubt, for both the rest of 2025 and pretty much all of 2026, one of the biggest questions that will be asked by fans and critics alike will be “How many units will the Nintendo Switch 2 sell?” If you recall, there was a “contingent” of “talking heads” on the internet who claimed that it would flop in record time. Instead, it quickly outpaced the record for the biggest console launch in video game history. Then, it continued to sell and get incredible first-class titles along the way, such as Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokémon Legends Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and more!
When we last heard about the sales figures for the console, it had crossed 10 million sold by the end of September, which was a big deal. In fact, Nintendo scaled up its projections for the fiscal year due to the crazy pace that the system was on. Now, insider Paul Gale stated on Twitter that the Nintendo Switch 2 has crossed another big milestone:
Welcome to 15 million, Nintendo Switch 2.
And to Nintendo Switch, 155 million.

If that is indeed the case, this is more significant than you realize. First, its pace of being the fastest-selling system in history is being maintained. Second, that would mean in the course of six months, the Switch 2 has outsold the lifetime sales of the Wii U. And finally, that means that between now and the end of March 2026, the system only needs to sell four million more units to meet Nintendo’s projections. With Christmas on the way and more games coming out before the end of March, that seems like a safe bet.
Obviously, we’ll need to hear back from Nintendo for official confirmation on the sales figures, but this does seem legit, and if so, that’s another big win for The Big N.
