Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Sequel Hinted At By Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer

The Great Sequel
By Andrew AgressApril 18, 2025
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arrived on PlayStation 5 this week after debuting on Xbox and PC last December. And it’s already whipped up much success. In an interview with Variety, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer praised the MachineGames title. Perhaps most notably, he coyly hinted at the possibility for a sequel.

“I will say, we’re really happy with “Indy” and the players and the reception,” shared Spencer. “We do think there’s life in that franchise, and I’m just gonna leave it at that.”

So not exactly a confirmation of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle 2: The Even Greater Circle. But it suggests that Microsoft and Bethesda are keen to keep the series going.

And the title has done well. Even before the PS5 release, the Indiana Jones game saw upwards of 4 million players back in January. Now that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is out on PS5, those numbers are going to go up even more.

Spencer also had this to say about the story, comparing it to those of the films:

“Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” the game we released in December… I think is one of the best “Indiana Jones” stories. Forget about playing the video game, it’s a really well done story that fits with Indiana Jones and his archeology background and traveling the globe and seeing all these fantastic spaces.

In our review, we said that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle “captures everything that Indiana Jones should be, while also doing things to set itself apart from similar games.” We also praised it as a “must-play” for Indiana Jones fans in particular.

That said, Spencer also revealed that he’s more interested in new IPs. “Going forward, I also want to give the teams the ability to do our own games and our own franchises,” stressed Spencer. “We have a lot of room to tell new stories, as well. And I want to make sure that’s an option for us.”

So it sounds like we may not get another Indiana Jones game for a little while. But at the same time, the archeologist isn’t hanging up his hat just yet. We still have some DLC to look forward to, as The Order of Giants will release at a future date. Those who purchased the Premium Edition will receive the DLC automatically.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is now out for PlayStation 5. It is also available for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
