IDID, a rookie boy group from Starship Entertainment, returned with the new digital single album ‘PUSH BACK’ on Nov. 20, evolving into an icon of unpolished, free-spirited energy.
After kicking off their summer chapter with the debut album, ‘I did it.’ in September, IDID has moved forward to tightly condense their energy with ‘PUSH BACK.’ Their lead single of the same name, a hip-hop dance track symbolizing IDID’s musical evolution, reveals their determination to forge their own path without fear. On top of a lively guitar riff and minimal bass, sweet vocals and bold rap exchange seamlessly, delivering both tension and poise to listeners.
Also included in the album is ‘Heaven Smiles,’ a hip-hop-based track capturing the thrill and liberation of standing up to the world. Distinctive intros, heavy bass, and space-filling melodies come together to offer an immersive experience, portraying how IDID dives in fearlessly to follow their hearts.
In ‘PUSH BACK,’ IDID continues to showcase their youthful innocence, while also radiating a rough edge with laid-back, fresh energy. The music, performances and visuals of the EP come together to convey one single message: ‘We’ll not follow the standards of others, but move forward to our own rhythm.’
“When I first saw the lyrics of ‘PUSH BACK,’ my heart trembled and my emotions surged,” said IDID’s leader JANG YONGHOON. “I felt as if they summed up my goals and determination to grow.”
IDID is the first boy group in nearly five years from Starship Entertainment – home to K-pop artists MONSTA X, IVE and KiiiKiii. The group name, short for ‘I did it,’ reflects their unwavering determination to accomplish anything through hard work. The members – JANG YONGHOON, KIM MINJAE, PARK WONBIN, CHU YOOCHAN, PARK SEONGHYEON, BAEK JUNHYUK and JEONG SEMIN – are the winners from Starship Entertainment’s ambitious debut project ‘Debut’s Plan,’ which aired earlier this year amid high popularity.
After the project wrapped up, IDID put out its pre-debut single, ‘STEP IT UP,’ in July, marking the beginning of their musical journey. In September, the group made their official debut with the “I did it.” album, establishing themselves as one of the most promising rookie acts in K-pop. With this album – a bold statement of IDID’s intent to break the mold and turn imperfection into brilliance – the septet pulled off a series of remarkable musical feats including a music show win, while selling more than 440,000 copies of their album in the first week of release.
Following the release of ‘PUSH BACK,’ IDID is set to hold a comeback showcase at Seoul’s COEX, which will also be streamed on their official YouTube channel.
