Hulu has sent word that Hulu Live TV is finally available for Amazon Fire TV devices. While the Live TV service has been available for some time via the Xbox One and PC, this marks the first time that cord cutters can get the TV service running outside of the Apple TV, Xbox One or Chromecast. This doesn’t count accessing the service from iOS or Android enabled devices. The service will also be releasing on the PlayStation 4, according to their new trailer.
The service launched back in May 2017 and ever since I’ve been subscribed to the Live TV service. And so far I’ve been impressed with the service while being confused with some of the features that have been offered. This mainly comes from the updated interface which could be streamlined a bit better or not really having a real option to select a channel at any given time. Still, for service that is being offered as an ongoing beta, it’s not half bad.
For $39.99, the service is easily one of the better and cheaper ones around. With over 50 channels available, including access channels such as ABC, CBS, ESPN, Showtime, HBO and more, it’s getting easier to drop your cable provider. You can choose to get fewer commercials while watching your favorite shows, for a price ($7.99). The service still has several shortcomings that make it undesirable for some. In fact, during my testing, my biggest issue with the service is that you can only view two simultaneous streams at once. If you’re a home multiple users who watch live content, this could be a potential deal breaker. Which happens to be the same amount that rivaling service DirecTV Now offers, yet pales in comparisons to the five simultaneous streams that PS Vue offers currently.
