Mario Kart World was recently released as an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. The franchise had already achieved huge success on the Switch, and the developers released the latest title in the franchise for $80.
While many initially criticized the developers for increasing the price of the title, they claim that Mario Kart World offers enough content to justify the cost. Speaking of content, the title actually offers so many things for fans to explore.
The game has introduced multiple new features, including a special type of NPCs that can only be unlocked through the mysterious Kamek Orb. Therefore, in this guide, we will help you get the Kamek Orb and unlock all the hidden characters through it in the easiest way possible.
What Is Kamek Orb?
The Kamek Orb is a rare item that has just been introduced to the franchise and doesn’t appear in every race. The item is special because it causes Kamek to fly over and magically transform every racer, except the user, into one specific NPC character.
If you are transformed into that NPC during the race, and you didn’t already have that character unlocked, it will be yours to keep in the title.
Locations to Find Kamek Orb Characters
While it mostly depends on luck to get Kamek in the race, many fans on Reddit have shared a pattern about which character Kamek turns the racers into, depending on the track. For instance, if you’re racing on the Peach Beach track, you’re likely to become Cataquack.
It should also be noted that there are 11 characters that can be unlocked through the Kamek Orb, and we are sharing the tracks fans have mentioned on different subreddits, which we have also verified to unlock the characters you don’t already have to save you time collecting them.
Here’s the full list of where to find each one:
-
Spike – Whistlestop Summit
-
Swoop – Dandelion Depths
-
Peepa – Boo Cinema
-
Fish Bone – Dry Bones Burnout
-
Chargin’ Chuck – DK Spaceport
-
Coin Coffer – Cheep Cheep Falls
-
Rocky Wrench – Airship Fortress
-
Cataquack – Peach Beach
-
Dolphin – Koopa Troopa Beach
-
Conkdor – Faraway Oasis
-
Pianta – Mario Circuit
Although there’s no guarantee that you’ll actually end up being the same character mentioned above, it’s a pattern that many have agreed upon. So, if it works for you as it did for us, that’s great. If not, you’ll still unlock one of the characters.
Another thing to note is that players will only be able to unlock the character if they have been transformed by another player, not by having the item themselves. So, it’s best not to chase the Kamek Orb and stay away from it, as this increases your chances of unlocking characters.
It has also been noted by many players that the Kamek Orb usually appears in the middle of the pack, between 4th and 8th place, and rarely appears in the top spots. Therefore, players should try to secure the top spot to avoid having the Kamek Orb themselves.
However, it is very time-consuming since the Kamek Orb doesn’t appear in every race, and there will be many times when you won’t have it. So, it is best to follow the steps we have mentioned to save a lot of time and quickly unlock all the characters in the title.
Once you have unlocked a character, it will stay permanently in your roster, and it won’t be replaced. Even though it has no special perks, it’s still a fun way to enhance your experience and add many characters like Cataquack, Chargin’ Chuck, Fish Bone, and others to your roster.
Nonetheless, the Kamek Orb is your key to unlocking 11 hidden characters in the title. It takes some patience, but once you know how it works, it becomes quite exciting and offers a fun experience for your Mario Kart World journey.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or just getting into the game, unlocking all these NPCs adds much more fun to the journey. And thanks to the Kamek Orb, you now have a completely unique way to complete your roster.
