Finding Alberich the Winged Doom in Absolum, is part of a larger questline involving Karl, and this marks just the first stage of that journey. To begin, you’ll need to have acquired Brome and likely completed the main story.
Here’s How to Find Alberich the Winged Doom
This is a random occurrence, but once you’re at the hearth or hub, a conversation will occur between Karl and Brome. Karl expresses frustration that, with the Underking now siding with Azra, and given that Karl was forged rather than born, he believes he’ll be the last of his kind.
Eventually, Karl decides he wants to replace the Underking. To move things forward, you’ll need to speak with Wisshelm, the ghostly achievement NPC located beside the tree in the hub.
Wisshelm will mention that he has something that might help and that Karl must travel to his old office or archive. This is the same location you helped Wisshelm find earlier in the game.
Once you reach the office, look for a bookshelf in the upper-right corner with a sparkling book. Interact with it to read the contents. The book reveals how Dwarves were originally created, essentially the Underking’s secret, and gives Karl the idea of how to create new life.
After leaving the office, continue on the normal path toward the Underking. Eventually, you’ll come across a new room with a door depicting an image of a dragon being struck in the head by a massive fist. You’ll be told that you need the blood of a dragon to open this door.
At this point, you must end your current run and start a new one. Keep searching until you find a red lizard mount, essentially a baby dragon, and bring it all the way back to that door. If you manage to do so, the door will open.
Inside, you’ll find a massive forge capable of creating life. However, before you can use it, Alberich the Winged Doom will descend and confront Karl.
After a brief conversation, Alberich will attack. You only need to reduce his health to roughly half before he retreats, as you won’t be able to defeat him. However, in do this, it allows Karl to approach the forge and continue his quest.
For now, this concludes the first part of Karl’s questline—you’ve successfully found Alberich the Winged Doom and earned the achievement “Naturalist.”
