How Many Gamers Got The Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle?

By Todd BlackAugust 4, 2025
Mario Kart World Review

When Mario Kart World was announced, people were excited. However, when it was revealed that the game would cost $80, many flipped their lid and thought it would be a “flop” as a result. They also said the same thing about the Nintendo Switch 2, and it went on to bust all manner of sales records. Anyway, we know that the game sold over 5.63 million units in the month of June, but many may fairly wonder how many of those sales were from the Switch 2 bundle. Thankfully, we have a number to attach to that question:

The Mario Kart Bundle represented 77% of the 5.82m Switch 2 units shipped.

Mario Kart World sold 4.5m units with the bundle and 1.13m units at the $79.99 price tag.

Nintendo will be introducing a similar Pokemon Legends Z-A bundle in October.

It’s actually rather telling that over a million people bought Mario Kart World at full price, as that debunks the myth that it would be a flop on its own, even without the bundle numbers further cementing that. The question now is about longevity, and whether the game can surpass what Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did on the OG Switch. If nothing else, it’s off to a great start!

Undoubtedly, though, Nintendo will want similar sales numbers from its other 1st party games that drop this year, including recent releases like Donkey Kong Bananza.
