Kwalee and Hyperstrange have announced that Hordes of Hunger, a 3D action roguelite with survivor-like progression, is now available in Early Access on PC via Steam. The game officially launched on May 6, 2025, and is priced at $14.99 / €14.79 / £12.79, with a 20% launch discount available during its first week.

Developed by Polish indie studio Hyperstrange, Hordes of Hunger throws players into a brutal arena-slasher where survival means mastering relentless waves of monsters, unlocking powerful new abilities, and discovering the origins of a deadly curse.

A new demo has also dropped alongside the launch, featuring expanded skill trees, updated weapon upgrades, and improved character progression. The parry system has seen notable improvements as well, including sharper animations and clearer visual feedback.

What is Hordes of Hunger?

The world has been devastated by a monstrous force from the sea. Only Mirah stands against the tide.

Hordes of Hunger puts players in control of a lone warrior fighting off wave after wave of enemies across crumbling castles and ruined villages. Each run allows for unique loadout combinations using different weapons and special attacks, whether you’re slicing through hordes with lightning speed or crushing enemies with brute force.

Players will need to think tactically, using environmental advantages like choke points, destructible terrain, and vertical positioning to survive. Every level-up adds new offensive and defensive skills, letting you create devastating builds: from flame-powered strikes to lightning crashes and resurrection buffs.

As the game progresses, so does the story. Through missions and rescued characters, players will slowly unravel the mystery behind the horde, the curse, and Mirah’s haunted homeland.

Hordes of Hunger is available now on Steam in Early Access. A full release date has yet to be confirmed.
