Going into the launch of Hollow Knight Silksong, many wondered if the years-long wait for it would affect it negatively or if the hype behind it would lead to record sales. It’s fair to state that we don’t have “all the answers” right now regarding its overall sales, but we do know some of them, and they paint a pretty incredible picture. Alinea Analytics analyzed how the game was doing across the numerous platforms it launched on, and revealed that just on Steam, it sold 3 million units in just three days. For an indie game, that’s pretty much unheard of. Oh, and for context? The original game needed two years just to reach 2.8 million units sold.
But wait, there’s more. Alinea went one step further and noted that it has gotten over 5 million players across the numerous platforms it’s on, with one million of them coming from Xbox Game Pass.
Continuing on with the big news, Hollow Knight Silksong has already made over $50 million in revenue! That’s a big win for Team Cherry and will likely fund all the post-launch content that they’ve already stated they’ll make.
The only question now is whether it’ll reach the 15 million units sold by the original game, and how long it’ll take to get it.
