If there was any doubt at all that Hollow Knight Silksong was going to be a huge hit at launch, you’ve likely heard by now of all the things that have happened since the game arrived earlier today. As noted by places like Wired, and a WHOLE BUNCH of fans who had to struggle to get the game bought and downloaded, the indie title’s popularity led to eshops all over the place being overwhelmed. Steam, the Nintendo eShop, the PlayStation Store, and even the Xbox Marketplace all had issues with the title.
If you want to see just how widespread the chaos was, just look at this post on Twitter showing a bunch of streamers trying to play the game, with most of them not having the best of luck on that front:

The good news is that many of these issues have been fixed, and many are playing the game now. Plus, as you’ll see below, Hollow Knight Silksong has a special launch trailer now to showcase what the game is all about, in case you’re still on the fence about getting it:
Vanquish foes.
Ascend to the peak.
Restore a kingdom’s hope.

Either way, it’ll be interesting to see the initial sales numbers for the title, and when we might hear more from Team Cherry about the post-launch content they promised. While we don’t have official sales numbers, we do know from Steam DB, which monitors player counts, that on Steam, the game is around 500K people at the time of this writing. That’s pretty awesome.
Oh, and since no review codes were given out, the reviews for the game will be interesting to see, too!
