Here comes the Elgato Gaming Stream Deck Mini

Elgato's Stream Deck Mini. Ain't it cute?

Like the original, only smaller & fewer buttons

Elgato has been hinting about the upcoming Stream Deck Mini for a while. They even gave out keychain versions of it at E3 2018. And as of today, the company has finally revealed the bite-sized version of their popular Stream Deck.

When Stream Deck launched just over a year ago, it gave content creators access to a level of tactile control that was traditionally exclusive to mainstream entertainment broadcasters” said Julian Fest, VP & General Manager of Elgato. “Stream Deck Mini is every inch a Stream Deck. It keeps all the same functionality, in a smaller form factor, and at a more attainable price.

Priced at $99, the Stream Deck Mini will do everything the original version will do. With the exception that it comes with less customizable keys; 6 instead of 15. Just as the name suggests, this version is nearly half the size of the Stream Deck. Just look at this thing, it’s small.

Stream Deck Mini features six fully-customizable LCD keys and easy-to-use software that gives creators a level of control previously only available to professional broadcasters. From automatically detecting scenes and sources, to posting on social media channels, Stream Deck Mini is seamlessly integrated into all the leading tools and platforms used by content creators including OBS Studio, XSplit, Streamlabs, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Mixer, and more.

Stream Deck Mini’s Key Features:

  • Six Fully-Customizable LCD Keys:
o One-touch tactile operation. Instant visual feedback.
  • Drag and Drop Setup:
o Simply drag and drop actions onto keys. Assign ready-made icons or create original images.
  • Native Integrations:
o OBS Studio, XSplit, Streamlabs, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Mixer, and more – Stream Deck Mini seamlessly integrates into a creator’s favorite tools and platforms.
  • Creativity Unleashed:
o Creators can use Stream Deck Mini to enhance their on-screen antics with GIFs, images, videos, and soundbites.
  • Multitasking Made Easy:
o Assign several actions to a single key and launch them all with a tap. One by one separated by intervals, or together, simultaneously.

The Stream Deck Mini is currently available to pre-order on Amazon, Gamestop and Elgato’s website.

That said, this could be a hard sell for many. For $50 more, you can get access to 9 more buttons. I like the idea of the mini version, but there are way too many missing buttons. Sure, the new update allows assigning multiple functions to the buttons but that still doesn’t change the fact. It will be interesting to see how the sales are, compared to the original Stream Deck.
