GRIDbeat! Is Headed to Switch and PC With a Rhythm-Driven Twist

By Keith MitchellFebruary 19, 2026

During today’s The Mix: Indie Fan Fest showcase, Acclaim announced that GRIDbeat! will launch digitally on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on March 26, 2026. Alongside the announcement, a new deep dive gameplay trailer offered a closer look at what Ridiculous Games is building, and it is more deliberate than the flashy neon visuals might suggest at first glance.

GRIDbeat! positions itself as a rhythm-based dungeon crawler, but unlike games that simply layer music on top of traditional action systems, this one appears to anchor everything to tempo. Movement, combat, enemy patterns, and even environmental hazards are tied directly to the beat of the soundtrack. The trailer, narrated by Ridiculous Games Senior Producer Jaime Bencia, emphasizes that every action is rhythm-driven, meaning success is less about button mashing and more about syncing with the music consistently.

That design choice could either elevate the experience or become its biggest hurdle. Rhythm mechanics demand precision and consistency, especially across longer play sessions. If the soundtrack stays strong and the level design evolves meaningfully, this could be something special. If not, repetition can set in quickly. That balance will ultimately determine how well GRIDbeat! holds up beyond its initial hook.

The premise leans fully into its digital aesthetic. Players assume the role of a hacker who breaches Knoss.OS, a heavily fortified corporate network, only to become trapped inside its sprawling Mainframe. From there, the game becomes a fight for survival through a neon-saturated labyrinth filled with hostile security protocols, military simulations, and corrupting viral code, all operating on a singular directive: remove the intruder.

Mechanically, GRIDbeat! blends tactical navigation with beat-based combat. Players explore maze-like data structures, avoid hazards such as Server Formats that can reset entire levels, and install new software tools that function as abilities and power-ups. Boss encounters, referred to as Cyber.Mind battles, pit players against powerful AI gatekeepers in rhythm-driven showdowns that test both reflexes and timing.

For those curious about how how the game plays, a demo of GridBeat! currently available on Steam, which includes three difficulty modes, nine selectable hackers and 13 stages, spanning training simulations, core campaign levels, and unlockable challenge stages.

GRIDbeat! launches on March 26, 2026 for Nintendo Switch and PC.
