Milan Records today releases GHOST OF YŌTEI – MUSIC FROM WATANABE MODE, an EP of music directed by Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo director SHINICHIRŌ WATANABE for the PlayStation®5 video game.

Ghost of Yotei

Available everywhere now, the album includes six original lo-fi, beat-driven tracks produced by the iconic anime director for the game’s “Watanabe Mode,” one of three gameplay modes included within the open world action-adventure video game. An ode to the hip hop-tinged beats popularized by Samurai Champloo, Watanabe Mode delivers a downtempo musical backdrop as players journey through 1600s Japan.

Today’s release follows the debut of the game’s Original Soundtrack by composer Toma Otowa, whose 22-track score fuses authentic Japanese sounds with American Western colors to heighten the drama with themes that are both intimate and epic.

TRACKLISTING –

  1. Yotei Six Theme (DJ Mitsu the Beats Remix) –DJ Mitsu the Beats & Toma Otowa
  2. 1st Refrain – Sweet William
  3. Kiseki – mabanua
  4. Rei and Retribution – Mark de Clive-Lowe
  5. Kasumi – Sweet William
  6. Atsu’s Theme (Sweet William Remix) – Sweet William & Toma Otowa
