Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition Is Stunning, But It’ll Cost You $250 and Doesn’t Include a Physical Disc

Wait a second, there's no physical disc?
By Keith MitchellJuly 11, 2025

Sony just pulled back the curtain on the Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition during the recent July 2025 State of Play, and yeah, it looks incredible. It’s stylish, steeped in Japanese tradition, and exactly the kind of thing that makes collectors like me go, “Well, looks like I’ll be eating ramen in a cup for the next two weeks.” However, while the presentation is top-tier, there’s one thing that’s going to sting for many people: the absence of a physical game disc.

Yep, for $249.99, you’re getting a box full of cool stuff and a digital code. Which has been a sore subject over the past few years as more and more publishers have been forgoing the physical media route, and fans are getting quite upset over this, as they should be. This Collector’s Edition is available exclusively on PlayStation Direct. If you’re thinking about picking up one for yourself, don’t sit on it for too long.

Here’s what’s included in the Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition:

Ghost of Yotei Collectors Edition Main Image

  • Digital copy of Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition (digital)
  • Ghost Mask
  • Sash and engraved tsuba
  • Ginkgo Tree papercraft
  • Art cards
  • Zeni Hajiki coin game + carrying pouch
  • Snake Armor, saddle, dye, and a custom horse (digital)
  • Traveler’s Maps – early unlocks for exploration (digital)
  • Sword Kit and special charm (digital)
  • 7 Avatars – Atsu and the Yōtei Six (digital)
  • Exclusive in-game mask (digital)

In addition to the collector’s edition, PlayStation also revealed two limited-edition PlayStation 5 bundles, which look pretty amazing, if I might add. Both of these have been created to celebrate the game’s launch. At this time, neither of the consoles is available for pre-order on the PlayStation store.

  • Gold Kintsugi PS5 – modeled after the art of repairing with gold, available globally
  • Sumi-e Ink Brush PS5 – minimalist, ink-wash style, exclusive to PlayStation Direct

Both bundles include a digital copy of the game and matching DualSense controllers. If you don’t want a full system but still want the look, you can grab the console covers and controllers separately.

Finally, a Ghost of Yōtei DualSense controller was also revealed, but there’s no pre-order up for this controller as of yet. We’ll keep you updated as to when you’ll be able to snag this controller for yourself, outside of buying the bundles, that is.

All in all, this is one good-looking Collector’s Edition. The physical extras are sharp, the vibe is strong, and for fans of Ghost of Tsushima, this feels like the natural evolution. But $250 with no physical disc? That’s a hard pill to swallow. And no, it doesn’t make sense to call it a “collector’s edition” if there’s nothing to collect in the game case.

If you’re still in, though, you’re getting a premium experience. Just make sure you’ve got shelf space for that mask and some bandwidth for the download.
