GDC Report Gives Hints On Nintendo Switch Successor Developers

By Todd BlackJanuary 18, 2024
Nintendo Switch

It wouldn’t be a new week without a piece of “news” about the Nintendo Switch Successor, now would it? Granted, this piece of news is real news, and it comes from GDC! So you can trust them with this. Anyway, with the Game Developers Conference approaching, the group published their annual “State of the Industry” paper, where they highlighted many things and surveyed numerous developers about what they feel about the industry right now and what’s coming up. That includes what Nintendo will likely do with their next console.

To that end, the survey noted that 8% of the devs they talked to confirmed they were working on the Nintendo Switch Successor. That might seem low, but those devs likely weren’t supposed to admit they were working on it. NDAs are there for a reason, and Nintendo is very strict about the information they give out about their systems and games.

And given that 3000 developers were interviewed for the survey, 8% would be 240 developers. Which is still a ton of games being made for the system if this is all true.
