In a move that’s sure to shake the Lands Between, Bandai Namco and A24 have announced that they have teamed up for a live-action Elden Ring movie, that’s being written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War).
The film will bring FromSoftware’s twisted, lore-drenched world to the big screen, with George R. R. Martin, who helped craft the mythology of the original game, is also on board as a producer. Alongside Garland is a heavyweight team including Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich, so yeah, this thing has serious backing.
I’d imagine that translating Elden Ring into a movie won’t be an easy task, given that it’s a world full of cryptic storytelling, towering monstrosities, and plenty of “what the hell just killed me?” moments. But if anyone can pull it off, I’m putting my money on Garland. He’s proven he can handle bleak beauty, unsettling tension, and characters that spiral into madness. But we’ll just have to wait and see.
Meanwhile, the Elden Ring universe itself continues to grow. In addition to the blockbuster base game and last year’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, fans are gearing up for the next major release: Elden Ring: Nightreign, which drops May 30. This spinoff introduces co-op-focused action, new characters, and a fresh threat, all while retaining that signature FromSoftware difficulty and world design.
And let’s not forget Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2025. It includes all the previous content plus some extras such as new armor and a few stylish options for your spectral steed, Torrent. So, if you ever wanted to play Elden Ring on the go and without paying an arm and a leg, you might want to give this a go.
Ever since the release of Elden Ring, the game has been a smash hit. From its original launch to Shadow of the Erdtree. Now, on the eve of Nightreign and with a Hollywood adaptation on the way, fans of the series are going to be eating well.
