Former PlayStation Executive Shuhei Yoshida Has Bold Statement About Gamers Who Play Nintendo Consoles

...but he says it "with respect" to the gamers and Nintendo.

Rivalries in the gaming space aren’t new. In fact, you could argue that once consoles were born and were successful, console wars soon followed because “everyone wanted a piece of the pie.” The “battle” that’s going on right now features PlayStation, Nintendo, and Microsoft going at it, and it’s very clear who’s winning right now. Yet, that isn’t stopping the ex-leader of PlayStation Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, from going onto the Kit & Krysta Podcast to say the following about Sony’s rival in Nintendo:

“Nintendo is bringing a younger audience into gaming, and some of them when they grow up, might graduate into more mature systems like PlayStation or Xbox. Of course, they have huge respect for what Nintendo does in terms of how Nintendo should be doing in the industry. We all felt like it’s great to have Nintendo to continue to be successful so that we can continue to grow the industry.”

…as a longtime Nintendo fan, and someone who had the PlayStation 1 and 2, I’m pretty offended by that, and I’m betting many of you will be, too. Many people don’t play certain systems because of their “maturity” of them or even themselves.

We play games on consoles because we LIKE the system for one reason or another, and there are GAMES to play on them that we want to partake in. Currently, the PlayStation 5 is a system that has “plenty of power,” but isn’t rocking the gaming side of things. In contrast, the Nintendo Switch had the best lineup of software titles, arguably ever. So, what is Shuhei Yoshida really trying to say here?

Plus, it’s very insulting for him to say that it was Sony “growing the industry,” when Nintendo has been a big part of that, especially amongst casual gamers.
