Sony has released new details about Project Defiant — a new fight stick designed for PlayStation 5 and PC. As if on cue, the announcement dropped during that special time of year for fighting games: Evo USA 2025. Project Defiant now has an official name: the FlexStrike, and to commemorate the occasion, a feature trailer has been released, which has been sprinkled with some footage of the upcoming fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
Sony isn’t just dropping a new fight stick; it’s making sure you’ve got the gear to carry it properly. The PlayStation FlexStrike comes with a custom-designed carrying bag called the Sling, made specifically for travel. No more cramming your stick into a Jansport, gym bag, or whatever laptop case you have lying around.
The Sling is built to keep the FlexStrike safe and snug on the go. There’s also a compartment for storing the PlayStation Link adapter and Resistor Gates. Even better, whether you’re a righty or a lefty, the FlexStrike includes a toggle switch to suit your playstyle.
FlexStrike Is Evo Bound
If you’re heading to Evo USA 2025, you’ll get a chance to check it out in person. The FlexStrike will be on display at the Fight Stick Museum and also at the Arc System Works booth. Expect live demos featuring the stick in action with titles like Guilty Gear Strive and Granblue Fantasy Versus. Plus, the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls beta will be playable, giving fans a taste of the game that’s also featured in the latest trailer—complete with Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Storm, and the rest of the current roster throwing down in tag-team chaos.
Since Marvel Tokon is officially licensed by Sony, it makes perfect sense to see both it and the FlexStrike getting spotlighted together. The game’s high-speed tag mechanics and flashy style channel that same energy fans loved in Dragon Ball FighterZ, making it one to keep an eye on.
The FlexStrike wireless fight stick is slated to launch in 2026; however, PlayStation hasn’t locked in a release date yet.
