Final Fantasy Producer Has Huge Praise For Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

Creativity without sacrifice.

Right now in our gaming world, there definitely seems to be a lack of true joy and even empathy due to recent events (hint: Xbox layoffs). We need something to bring us “back into focus,” and ironically, that comes from famed Final Fantasy Producer Naoki Yoshida. Why? Because he had some big praise for The Legend of Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom. The title came out last year and flipped many conventions on their head so that a different kind of game could unfold. In a chat with Famitsu, he noted:

“All recent games are interesting, but I was particularly impressed with The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. This may be a bit of a geeky topic, but even from a creator’s point of view, there were many points that made me think, ‘Wow, that’s amazing,’ in terms of how the resources were used, how it was made, and the game design.”

The Final Fantasy producer praised the team for not only creating some clever content, but also spending their time working on how to make the game stand out versus just looking interesting:

In fact, the base resources used in that work are almost the same as other Zelda works. In other words, by focusing all of their efforts on the fun of the game, they kept production costs to a minimum.

The game was a huge hit on the Nintendo Switch, selling over 4 million units so far! If you want to hear our thoughts on the game, read our review!
