During Evo USA 2025, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Ken Masters gameplay has been revealed in the form of content creators trying him out on the exhibition floor.
For instance, NeoGeoNow features gameplay of Ken vs. Terry in their original costumes, alongside the new stage. Rooflemonger also breaks down Ken through his hands-on playing, too. With Terry’s arrival in Metro City and the ensuing chaos, it’s high time to see what Ken will do to the Wolves.
From the sound of the background music, it seems that the new stage itself is definitely a nod to Ryu’s Sozaku Castle stage of classic Street Fighter titles. The theme music itself is a remix of Ken’s longtime Street Fighter rival. Too bad Ryu isn’t watching from the sidelines to cheer Ken on. Neither Sean nor Gouken makes an appearance, either, but it would have been nice. Gotta learn from Andy and Joe here to support your friends, Ryu.
Both Terry and Ken do get a special intro together without any hats being thrown. This was unexpected as an in-game thing. Possibly the only one within City of the Wolves. Back in the ’90s and early ’00s, fighting games prided themselves on telling relationships and stories through said intros.
Tekken 8 still carries on the sorrowfully missed pre-fight tradition over the Fatal Fury and Street Fighter iterations of the now, for instance. Ken and Terry had a great one in Capcom vs SNK, with the two establishing what is said to be a rivalry between warriors. As a matter of fact, the whole game did have some of the most iconic intros yet.
How To South Town With Ken
SNK has released its own Character Guide to help new players grasp the power of the Shotokan flames. Since this is Street Fighter VI Ken, all his set items from there are coming to this appearance. As expected, both Tatsumaki and Shoryuken moves are breakable to stop partway to create more potential combos with REV gauge mindfulness.
Quick Dash’s commands are intact. Ken gets his usual two supers, Shippu Jinraikyaku and Shoryureppa, back. The latter is cancelable by breaking. Ken’s Hidden Gear is the Shinryu Shoen Ha, which combines a few more of his moves together for the Shinryuken finish. Ken’s universal overhead attack does bring Third Strike back.
Ken has yet to have a solid release date. If the past can dictate the future, Ken Masters’ release date will be sooner than we expect. For example, the first DLC character Andy’s release date was released in June. SNK stated that each new character will be at least two months apart. Chun Li will be coming to continue the Street Fighter x Fatal Fury collaboration later in the year. As to who will be next, if the collaboration continues, remains to be seen. Maybe… Sagat?
