Everdell: Emerland Launches on Kickstarter – New Realm, New Mechanics, and a Massive Deal for Collectors

By Alex SwiftDecember 6, 2025
Everdell Emerland, A capybara in a jungle setting

The Everdell universe is expanding once again – this time into the heart of a lush, overgrown jungle. Everdell: Emerland, the newest standalone entry in the award-winning franchise, has officially gone live on Kickstarter. Designed by James & Clarissa A. Wilson with artwork from long-time Everdell illustrators Mr. Cuddington, Emerland introduces an entirely new realm filled with vibrant landscapes, ancient ruins, and a fresh cast of critters adapted to this untamed world.

While Starling Games is keeping the deeper gameplay details under wraps for now, the campaign clearly positions Emerland as a full standalone experience – not an expansion – built on the core Everdell foundation that players already love. Worker placement, tableau building, and seasonal progression return, but the team emphasizes that Emerland will bring new mechanics and ideas unique to its jungle setting.

A Whole New World Within Everdell

Emerland shifts away from the cozy forest valley, islands and frozen lands fans know and drops players into a wilder, more adventurous (and more humid) environment. Early art reveals towering canopies, vine-covered structures, shimmering waterways, and creatures that look right at home in a hidden, magical jungle.

It’s a tonal evolution for the series – familiar charm, but with a sense of exploration and mystery that sets Emerland apart from anything in the original game line.

What We Know So Far

Although gameplay specifics haven’t been revealed yet, Starling Games confirms that:

  • Emerland is a fully standalone game, playable right out of the box
  • It features new gameplay systems tailored to the jungle theme
  • It remains grounded in the core structure and feel of Everdell
  • It introduces entirely new critter species and constructions
  • The visual identity is a fresh take from Mr. Cuddington, matching the new biome

In other words: it’s not more of the same – but it’s not abandoning what made Everdell a beloved favorite either.

Who Is Emerland For?

Based on what’s shown so far:

  • New players can jump in without needing prior Everdell content
  • Returning fans get a new realm with a different atmosphere and expanded worldbuilding
  • Collectors get a new entry with the same premium art and aesthetic Everdell is known for
  • Strategic gamers can expect familiar Everdell-style engine building with new layers still to come

This is shaping up to be the next major pillar in the franchise – not a side project or mini-expansion.

Bonus: A Rare Chance for the Original Complete Collector’s Edition

Although not the focus of the campaign, Starling Games is also offering the Everdell Complete Collector’s Edition as a separate pledge option for only $225 instead of the normal $350.

For longtime fans who missed it the first time – or balked at secondary market prices – this is a very notable addition.

But you onlly have until Dec 18th to grab this deal!
