Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Trailer Drops Tomorrow

I'll be watching, won't you?

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailer announcement

For months, there’s nothing more I’ve thought about than the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC since we first heard about it in early 2023. Being a fan of the Soulslike genre and just about everything Fromsoftware has produced, except Ninja Blade, I’ve been waiting for the day when the official release date would be. While we don’t have that, we do have an announcement of an upcoming trailer that will be released on February 22, 2023, at 7 AM PT/10 AM ET. It will be shown on the Bandai Namco Europe YouTube channel.

This new trailer will feature 3-minutes of footage from the upcoming Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and to think that the entire gaming world is getting excited for just 3-minutes of footage… no, it seems about right for this caliber of game. I’m excited, right along with the rest of you… believe that.

Earlier this year, the internet was abuzz over rumors that the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC would be released in February 2024. Not wanting to cause the collapse of the gaming world, the parent company of Fromsoft, Kadokawa, quickly squashed those rumors. So did the producer of Elden Ring, Yasuhiro Kitao, who mentioned, “I’ll talk about the DLC another time. It’s still a little ways off, but progress is going well. Like Bloodborne’s expansion, it has new battles and new characters: So please look forward to new things.”

As someone who sank countless hours into Elden Ring, playing the game, writing guides, battle bosses, and providing lots of coverage, I’m beyond excited to dive back into the DLC. Speaking of diving into the DLC, there’s a big chance we could get a release date during tomorrow’s trailer. Of course, that’s all speculation on my part, and even if we don’t, I have a feeling we won’t see the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC until at least the start of the Summer, so around June 2024.

Some have started speculating we could see the DLC as soon as March 2024, but I’m doubtful. Too many games are being released that month, some of them being major releases, from Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin, and Unicorn Overlord. June 2024, on the other hand, is ripe, with the only big title dropping Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

Either way, I’ll be with the release you, waiting and counting down the seconds until the trailer drops, then watching it over and over to get as many secrets from the trailer as I can.
