Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have just announced a massive milestone, and honestly, it’s no surprise. With how much time players are still pouring into the Elden Ring universe, the sales figures just keep climbing.
Between Elden Ring, its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and the more recent release of Elden Ring Nightreign, the franchise has now pushed past 45 million units sold worldwide. That’s no small feat, and to celebrate, both companies issued a thank you to fans for the continued support.
The original Elden Ring has now sold over 30 million copies globally. The game continues to bring in new players and still gets talked about like it just dropped yesterday. It also took home a ridiculous number of Game of the Year wins and nominations, including from The Game Awards, DICE, and the Golden Joystick Awards. FromSoftware shook up the open-world formula and somehow made it feel brand new again.
Shadow of the Erdtree, which came out in the summer of 2024, has already sold more than 10 million copies, which is wild considering it’s an expansion and not a full sequel. It gave us the Realm of Shadow, one of the most haunting and lore-packed regions yet. It brought new life to the story of Miquella and gave us Messmer the Impaler, a villain who easily ranks up there with the best of them. The content was meaty, mysterious, and full of pain in the best possible way.
Elden Ring Nightreign, the standalone multiplayer co-op survival title that launched back in May 2025, came out swinging. It sold over 2 million copies in just 24 hours and has already passed 5 million copies less than two months later. It’s a completely different beast, leaning into procedural level design, co-op systems, and large-scale battles that feature enemies pulled from both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. No two runs ever feel the same, which keeps the experience from going stale.
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco ended their statement by thanking players around the world for their passion and support. And really, it’s well deserved. These games continue to deliver in ways most other franchises can only dream of.
Speaking personally, I’ve spent nearly 1,000 hours between Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree. I was fully locked in and couldn’t get enough. Nightreign is right up there, too. I’ve logged close to 400 hours on PC and Xbox Series X, and I’m still going. It scratches that FromSoftware itch while bringing something different to the table. Honestly, both games have been more than worth the time.
Now, all I need is those new bosses and that promised duo mode to make their arrival in Elden Ring Nightreign.
