New Elden Ring Nightreign Overview Trailer Preps Fans for May 30 Release

With Elden Ring Nightreign set to release on May 30, 2025, fans hungry for more details can finally feast. Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer that offers an in-depth look at the systems and mechanics players will use to survive the punishing new chapter of the Lands Between.

Check it out below.

This trailer provides more information about gameplay and characters, but also showcases additional features such as character outfits, including a few that will look familiar to longtime fans of FromSoftware’s past games. It also gives a closer look at how relics function in the progression system, and even teases several of the nightmarish new bosses players will face during the days-long gauntlet of Nightreign.

We even get a glimpse at two additional Wayfarers joining the lineup. One is the Executor, shown briefly on the character select screen and appearing to be a melee-focused fighter. The second is a mysterious female character whose abilities and role remain unknown, as the trailer offers no further context or explanation.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, players must make split-second decisions in both combat and exploration across a dynamic map that shifts with different biomes, weapons, and enemy types. The goal is to grow stronger while staying ahead of an encroaching circle of fire—an ominous mechanic that adds time pressure and tension. At the end of each in-game day, players face terrifying bosses, culminating on the third day with a showdown against a Nightlord, one of the new apex enemies introduced in this expansion.

Cooperation is key. As Nightfarers, players must combine their unique abilities to stand a chance against these formidable threats. Even failed runs serve a purpose, as defeated players earn relics that can be used to customize and upgrade their characters to better suit their personal play styles.  Sadly, Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t support crossplay, which is a huge bummer in my opinion.

Elden Ring Nightreign launches for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on May 30.
