If you’re one of the few Elden Ring Nightreign sickos who’s thought, “You know what? This game could be harder,” then I have good news for you. Elden Ring Nightreign is getting a new expedition. Starting on Thursday, September 11th, Nightreign players can take on “Deep of Night,” the new challenge mode promising even more difficulty.
So what does this new gameplay mode entail? For starters, enemies will prove stronger than usual. That should go without saying.
On top of that, you can’t specify which Nightlord you intend to fight. And as weapons in the standard mode provide various beneficial status effects, the weapons here will also have detrimental status effects as well. You could even say you’ll find a… double-edged sword (I am so sorry it was just too perfect).
And if that’s not hard enough for you, the difficulty will ramp up the deeper you descend. While it isn’t immediately clear how this gets enabled, apparently ratings of wins and losses will affect the depth. Bandai Namco encourages players to see if they can get past “Depth 3.”
So is Depth 3 the hardest level? Of course not! Elden Ring Nightreign‘s “Deep of Night” challenge promises two more levels. Depths 4 and 5 will offer “an endless battle” for those seeking “even greater thrills.” Elden Ring Nightreign isn’t content to have session lasting around 45 minutes. You’ll now battle until the end of time. Or until you die, whichever comes first.
In our review of Elden Ring Nightreign, we said that “with a few updates, Nightreign could become a multiplayer Soulslike classic. But as it stands, it’s more of a potent experiment than a new standard.” As such, it’s great to see FromSoftware continuing to update the game like this. This past July, Nightreign added a much-requested duos mode. We’ll see how “Deep of Night” changes the game (and how tough it gets) next month.
