FromSoftware Unveils the Iron Eye, the Next Nightfarer in Elden Ring Nightreign

By Keith MitchellApril 1, 2025
Elden Ring Nightreign - Iron Eye Nightfarer

On a day when skepticism runs high, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware chose to reveal the next Nightfarer, the Iron Eye, a playable character in the upcoming roguelike Soulslike title, Elden Ring Nightreign. This new class specializes in ranged combat, excelling with bows and dexterity-based weapons.

Beyond dealing damage from a distance, the Iron Eye also brings valuable utility to a party, with the unique ability to revive downed allies using ranged attacks. It’s an intriguing addition, and just from what we’ve seen so far, the Iron Eye has the potential to become a fan favorite among players eager to explore the Limveld when Elden Ring Nightreign launches.

If you ever wanted to feel like an overpowered Anor Londo archer, this might be for you.

Check out the Iron Eye in action in the trailer below.

With the addition of the Iron Eye, that brings the number of Elden Ring Nightreign Nightfarers to five:

  • Duchess (melee)
  • Recluse (ranged)
  • Guardian (melee)
  • Wylder  (melee)
  • Iron Eye (ranged)

When Elden Ring Nightreign is released, it will do so with eight playable Nightfarers, which leaves three more to be revealed before the game is released.

What is Elden Ring: Nightreign?

Developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Elden Ring: Nightreign is a standalone action RPG with Rogue-like elementts that is set to released on May 30th, 2025 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Unlike Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Nightreign shifts its focus to cooperative gameplay, allowing solo players or teams of three (but notably, not two-player teams) to explore a procedurally generated map of Limgrave. Players must survive three in-game days, defeating minor bosses that shrink the playable area before an intense final battle.

The game features eight distinct pre-made characters, each with unique abilities and powerful ultimate attacks, promoting strategic teamwork. The world itself is dynamically generated, with terrain elements such as volcanoes, forests, and swamps appearing differently in each playthrough.
